Dropped Handgun Discharges, No Injuries

For Immediate Release:  June 14, 2019

 

On June 13, 2019 at 8:52 pm, at the completion of a youth rec basketball game at the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr Complex, an unknown juvenile dropped a handgun on the floor causing it to discharge.  An officer, who was already on scene, immediately responded to the commotion caused by the crowd that began to run out of the gymnasium.  A handgun was located on the floor and there were no injuries reported.  Detectives of the Street Crimes Unit are actively investigating this incident in an attempt to identify the juvenile.
