One Man Arrested for Robbery, Another Still Being Sought

For Immediate Release:  April 5, 2019


An investigation by detectives of the Street Crimes Unit into the robbery and assault of a man resulted in the arrest of one suspect.

On March 27, detectives initiated an investigation into the robbery of the victim, 56 years old from Atlantic City.  While walking in the beach block of Ocean Avenue on the evening of March 26, the victim was assaulted by two men who ripped his pant pocket while stealing his wallet that contained cash.  The robbery was not initially reported to police.  The victim sought medical care for his injuries.  

An investigation by detectives led to the identity of one suspect and the filing of criminal charges.  On April 4, a wanted warrant was issued for Laquay Phillips for his role in the robbery.  Shortly after, Detective Fariyd Holmes located and arrested Phillips at Ohio and Pacific Avenues.  

The identity of the second suspect is still unknown and detectives are still actively investigating.  The suspect is described as a light-skin black male, late twenties, 5 feet 7 inches tall.  He was last seen wearing dark colored clothing that included a grey sweatshirt.


ARRESTED:  Laquay Phillips, a 31 year old male from Philadelphia, PA.

CHARGES:  Aggravated assault, robbery, theft, and conspiracy.

Phillips was remanded to the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
