CRIMINAL INVESTIGATION SECTION

MEDIA RELEASE

January 19, 2019

On December 17, 2018, at 9:44 pm, District Four officers responded to 2329 Gilbert Avenue to investigate a report of a person shot.  First responders located the victim and he was transported to the University Hospital Medical Center where he later succumbed to his injuries. 

The victim has been identified as Terrance Smith, 22 years of age.  There is no suspect information to release at this time, however the victim’s car was stolen immediately after the victim was shot.  The stolen vehicle is a white 2004 Lexus displaying an Ohio license plate of GUH2057 (The actual vehicle is depicted below). 

On December 20, 2018, Homicide Detectives filed murder warrants against Avriana Johnson, 21 years of age, Jordyn Stemmerding, 19 years of age and Lemichael Johnson , 22 years of age, for causing the death of Terrance Smith.  With assistance from the Department’s Fugitive Apprehension Unit, Lemichael Johnson, Jordyn Stemmerding and Avriana Johnson have been incarcerated at the Hamilton County Justice Center. 

*Terrance Smith’s vehicle, a 2004 white Lexus, has been located and recovered. 

***UPDATE***

On January 19, 2019, with assistance from the Fugitive Apprehension Squad, Homicide Detectives arrested James Tayor, 24 years of age, also charged with murder for the causing the death of Terrance Smith.
