THANK YOU TO OUR THIRD PRECINCT OFFICERS, LOCAL BUSINESSES, AND COMMUNITY MEMBERS !

This past Wednesday night we rolled out our 1st Annual Third Precinct Halloween Car. The purpose of this event was to have our Officers hand out candy to area youth for Halloween, the initial idea for this concept was from Third Precinct Sergeant John Traynor who noticed a large crowd of kids on South Broadway last year. For the past few weeks we have been collecting candy from businesses from the South Broadway Business Improvement District (BID) and the Yonkers Mexican American Chamber of Commerce. Special Thank you to Police Officer Danny Drago for helping us secure over 100 pounds of candy, which was no easy feat. We decorated the patrol car with local High School students who had also volunteered to participate in clean up efforts on New Main Street this past Summer. At approximately 4:30 pm the Third Precinct Halloween Car left the precinct parking lot and proceeded to Lincoln Park on South Broadway, where Police Officer Frank McDonald Jr. (dressed as Mr. McGibblets) and Police Officer Ryan Moran proceeded to distribute candy to hundreds of children from the area. Over the next few hours the scene was repeated on South Broadway and New Main Street. It was a sight to see, our Officers and the kids truly had a great time together, which was our ultimate goal. Memories were made and new friendships were forged.

I want to take a moment and thank all who made this possible. In particular, I want to thank the members of the Third Precinct for their efforts. These are the busiest officers in the city, they do their job day in and day out with little fanfare. They have brought crime down in their patrol area the past few years while at the same time strengthening the bonds with the community that they serve. We couldn't be more proud of their efforts.
