Utilities District work to affect traffic and water
Greater Augusta Utilities District will be performing an excavation to replace a valve that has been leaking on Green St near South Chestnut St this Friday (10/19). The work will begin shortly after 6am. This work will include a traffic zone at this intersection that may affect traffic to the Lincoln School. The work will also shutdown water service to a number of residences on Green St and Lancaster Pl. The shutdown will not affect the school, but will affect St. Mary’s Cemetery (which may be off for the season now anyway). All residents affected by the shutdown will be receive notice this afternoon. The parent’s and buses traveling to Lincoln School should also be aware that this intersection will be controlled by flagger’s and should be avoided if possible. A portion of Green St west of S. Chestnut will be reduced to one lane for most of the day and may be closed altogether for short periods of time. Thank you. G.A.U.D.
