Hit and Run Incident on Erie Street

Please find the following updated information on today's now fatal hit and run incident. Today, Cambridge Police responded to the area of 150 Erie
Street in Cambridge for the report that an elderly woman had been struck by a
vehicle in the parking lot of the Cambridge Housing Authority building. Upon
arrival, police located an 80-year-old woman, who appeared to be pushing a
wheeled walker at the time of the crash. The victim was transported to
Cambridge Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
The
preliminary investigation suggests that the operator of the vehicle fled the
scene following the crash. An investigation into the vehicle and incident is
active and ongoing.
The
identity of the victim will be released pending next of kin notification.
This investigation is being conducted by the Middlesex District Attorney’s
Office, Cambridge Police and the Massachusetts State Police CARS and Crime
Scene Services Units.

Cambridge Police are currently in the area of 150 Erie Street conducting an investigation after an elderly woman in a wheelchair was involved in what is believed to be a hit and run crash with a vehicle today in a driveway at approximately 12:03 p.m. The victim has sustained serious injuries and has been transported to a local hospital.
