Fatal Injury Traffic Crash Investigation

On Friday, July 27, 2018, at approximately 2248 hours, the Cincinnati Police Department’s Traffic Unit responded to 7350 River Road to investigate a fatal injury traffic crash.

Ms. Elise Earley, F/23, was operating a 2018 Volkswagen Tiguan, north on Thornton Avenue.  Ms. Earley failed to yield to crossing traffic and attempted to turn eastbound on River Road. Mr. Joseph Bahlmann, M/33 was operating a 1995 Toyota Avalon also east on River Road.  Mr. Bahlmann struck Ms. Earley on the driver’s side door pushing her into the westbound lane of River Road.

Ms. Earley sustained critical  injuries as a result of the crash and was transported to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center by the Cincinnati Fire Department where she succumbed to her injuries. Her passenger, Mr. David Stewart, M/25 was also transported to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center with serious injuries and is listed in fair condition.

Mr. Bahlmann sustained serious injuries as a result of the crash, and was transported to University of Cincinnati Medical Center by the Cincinnati Fire Department. He is listed in fair condition.

All three were wearing their seatbelts.

Excessive speed and impairment appear to be factors in this crash. 

The Traffic Unit is continuing the investigation and any witnesses to this crash are asked to contact the Cincinnati Police Department’s Traffic Unit at 513.352.2514.
