Syracuse Police make an arrest in a rape investigation.
On June 28th, 2018 at approximately 4:00 AM, Syracuse Police Officers responded to the 200 block of Turtle Street in regards to a rape investigation call. Upon arrival, Officers met with a female victim, who reported being violently attacked and raped by a male over a period of a few hours. The victim was transported to Upstate Hospital by AMR Ambulance for treatment
of her injuries sustained in this incident.
Detectives with the SPD Abused Persons Unit continued with the investigation and as the investigation progressed, Detectives were able to identify the suspect.
On July 4th, 2018, Detectives responded to 607 Turtle Street to locate the suspect, and obtained a search warrant to check his residence. The SPD S.W.A.T. responded to the scene as a precaution, due to the violent actions of the suspect reported in this incident. The suspect was located and arrested without incident.
As a result, Detectives charged Christopher Hickey, 28 years old, with Rape in the 1st degree, Robbery in the 1st degree, Criminal Sex Act in the 1st degree, Sex Abuse in the 1st degree, Assault in the 2nd degree, Strangulation in the 2nd degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 3rd degree, Unlawful Imprisonment and Forcible Touching.
Christopher Hickey was later lodged in the Onondaga County Justice Center.
