Armed Standoff Ends Peacefully
On July
2, 2018, at approximately 5:20pm, the Pelham Police Department received a phone
call from a resident on Currier Road advising that his son was threatening to
shoot him with a gun. The caller was upset and stated that he heard a gun go
off as he ran from the house.
As
officers arrived, they were able to get additional information that Justin Levasseur,
age 37 of Pelham, New Hampshire had threatened to shoot both of his parents as
he brandished a firearm. The father was able to block a bedroom door in order
to give his wife time to jump out the window. He was then able to run out the
front door and call police. Levasseur was last seen by his father going back
into the house.
Responding
officers set up a perimeter around the house and began evacuating the residents
from the homes immediately beside the house in question. New Hampshire State
Police and the Salem Police responded and assisted officers until the Southern
New Hampshire Special Operation Unit (SOU) arrived on scene.
The SOU team took over the scene. They attempted to make contact with Levasseur
and were unsuccessful for hours. At approximately 9:01pm Levasseur voluntarily turned himself in to
perimeter officers. He was taken into custody without further incident.
Levasseur
was charged with Simple Assault (domestic violence), Criminal Threatening with
a deadly weapon, Reckless Conduct with a deadly weapon and a Felon in
Possession of the Firearm. He will appear in Hillsborough County (South)
Superior Court tomorrow, July 3, 2018.
Currier
Road was closed for approximately four hours. A search warrant was issued and
executed for the residence. The mother of Levasseur was injured as a result of
the incident. She was transported by Pelham Fire to Lowell General Hospital for
medical attention. Levasseur’s father refused medical treatment.
