Wednesday nights: 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm

CERT Description: The Community Emergency Response Team (C.E.R.T) course is an 8 week academy that educates and trains citizens on disaster preparedness topics, and for hazards that may impact their area. Cadets are trained in basic disaster response skills, the incident command system, terrorism, disaster psychology, and disaster medical operations, fire safety, and light search and rescue. Courses are taught in lecture and hands on exercises.

C.E.R.T members can assist others in their neighborhood or workplace following an event when professional responders are not immediately available to help. C.E.R.T members also are encouraged to support emergency response agencies by taking a more active role in emergency preparedness projects in their community.

Requirements: Residents of the City of Yonkers, 18 years of age or older, and complete the C.E.R.T application.
