On 2/16/2018 at approximately 0743 am, the Hazard Police Department received a call regarding a male which had attempted to pull a purse away from a female in the parking lot of Wal-Mart in Hazard and proceeded to the Murphy’s Gas station in the Daniel Boone Plaza. Deputy Chief Joseph Engle responded to the scene and located Andrew G. Neace of Vancleve, KY. Video surveillance shows Neace attempting to snatch the purse from the victims' hands before he left the scene.

Deputy Chief Engle contacted Chief Ken Spicer of the Jackson Police Department to see if he was familiar with the suspect. Chief Spicer advised that they were currently attempting to locate the suspect themselves for a theft of several cartons of cigarettes from the BP in Jackson at 0500am this morning.

Discovered inside the vehicle being driven by Neace were the stolen cartons of cigarettes from Jackson, along with two syringes. Deputy Chief Engle obtained a Warrant of Arrest for Neace charging him with Attempted Theft by unlawful taking (purse snatching), Public Intoxication, Receiving Stolen Property and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Neace was lodged in the Kentucky River Regional Jail with additional charges stemming from active outstanding warrants for 16 felony criminal possession of a forged instrument charges.
