Dutton Road DUI Crash Knocks Out Power and Closes Dutton Road

On December 13, 2017 at approximately 2:54pm the Pelham Police and Fire Departments were dispatched to the area of 9 Dutton Road for a report of a vehicle that had struck a telephone pole.  Upon arrival officers observed three vehicles involved.  A 2015 Jeep Wrangler, operated by Christopher Gaidmore of Milford, NH, had struck a telephone pole causing wires and the pole to come down across the road.  The wires also fell on top of two vehicles that were also traveling on Dutton Road.  The other vehicles involved were a 2013 Dodge Caravan being operated by a Nicki Darisse of Pelham, NH and a 2008 Dodge Pickup that was being operated by a Felipe Figueiredo also of Pelham, NH.  The driver of the Dodge Pickup was able to free himself.  The occupants of the Dodge Caravan were unable to get out due to the wires on the vehicle.  The Pelham Fire Department was able to free the wires from the vehicle and rescue the occupants.  They were not injured.

The operator of the Jeep Wrangler was transported to Southern New Hampshire Medical Center for treatment and is in the custody of the Pelham Police Department.  He has been charged with Driving Under the Influence of Drugs, Operating After Suspension and also had an Electronic Bench Warrant.  Additional charges may be forthcoming.  The accident remains under investigation.  The Pelham Police Department asked anyone that witnessed the accident to contact Ofc. Mark Riddinger at (603)635-2411.

As a result of the accident Dutton Road was closed between Atwood Road and Clark Circle and power was knocked out to the area.  The road is expected to remain closed into the overnight hours.  Utility companies are on scene working to clear the road and restore power to the area.  Questions regarding power restoration should be directed to Liberty Utilities.

Any questions regarding the accident can be directed to Sergeant Brian Barbato at (603) 635-2411.
