On Sunday, November 19, 2017, at approximately 0058 hours, the Cincinnati Police Department’s Traffic Unit responded to 2222 Harrison Avenue to investigate a fatal traffic crash.

Mr. Ousmane Soumare, M/27, was operating a 2006 Dodge Stratus, traveling east on Harrison Avenue.  Mr. Lamine Ba, M/37, was a front seat passenger in the Dodge.  Mr. Paul Byers, M/65, was operating a 2000 Toyota Tacoma, traveling west on Harrison Avenue.  Mr. Soumare lost control of his vehicle, traveled left of the marked double yellow centerline and struck the Toyota.

Mr. Soumare and Mr. Ba succumbed to their injuries at the crash scene.  Mr. Byers sustained minor injuries and was transported to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center where he was treated and released.

Excessive speed and impairment do not appear to be factors in this crash. 

The Traffic Unit is continuing the investigation and any witnesses to this crash are asked to contact the Cincinnati Police Department’s Traffic Unit at 513-352-2514.
