     * Serious Traffic Crash Investigation *

                   *****UPDATE*****

On Monday, August 07, 2017, at approximately 1131 hours, the Cincinnati Police Department’s Traffic Unit responded to 2605 Central Parkway to investigate a serious auto accident.

Mr. Tyrone Mack, M/30 was operating a 2004 Honda Accord north on Central Parkway when the vehicle crossed the center line and was struck by a 2016 (marked police vehicle) Ford Explorer.  The police vehicle was being operated by Sergeant Charles White, M/68.       

Mr. Mack sustained life threatening injuries and was transported to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center by the Cincinnati Fire Department where he is listed in critical condition. 

*On October, 22, 2017, at 0340 hours, Mr. Mack succumbed to his injuries.*

Sergeant White sustained minor injuries.  He was transported to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center by the Cincinnati Fire Department where he was treated and released. 

Excessive speed does not appear to be a factor

Impairment is unknown at this time.   

The Traffic Unit is continuing the investigation and any witnesses to this crash are asked to contact the Cincinnati Police Department’s Traffic Unit at 513-352-2514.
