Two Males Arrested, One with Handgun Following Altercation

For Immediate Release:  August 5, 2017

On August 5, 2017, two males were arrested following an altercation on the Atlantic City Boardwalk.  One male discarded a handgun while running from officers.

At 1:00 am, Tourism District Unit officers assigned to the boardwalk were stopped by a potential victim saying that two males were attempting to assault him and one was in possession of a handgun.

The two males, Brett Baglio and Malik Stitts, had confronted the victim and began an altercation.  During the altercation, Stitts attempted to hand Baglio a handgun, but stopped after seeing officers on the boardwalk.

The officers confronted the males, Malik Stitts and Brett Baglio, at Arkansas Avenue.  Stitts immediately fled from the officers off the boardwalk.  Officers Maria Borsani and Warren Young chased Stitts to Arkansas and Pacific Avenues.  During the pursuit, Stitts removed a loaded handgun from his waistband and threw it into bushes along Pacific Avenue.  The gun would be recovered by officers.  Shortly after discarding the weapon, Stitts surrendered to the officers and was taken into custody without incident.

After Stitts fled from the officers, Baglio remained on the boardwalk and was taken into custody by Sgt. Eric Cruse.
