It has come to our attention that our non-emergency number (937) 426-1225, may have been "spoofed" and used by a company attempting to sell residential alarms. For those not familiar, "spoofing" is a term used to describe the act of changing your phone number only as it would appear on caller ID. In other words, you can call someone from your phone but if you use a "spoofing" app to do so, you can change the number that shows up on the recipients caller ID.  The Beavercreek Police Department will NEVER call and try to sell anything, including alarm systems.

There is very little chance that we would be able to trace or stop the people that may use these tactics to commit fraud based solely on a phone call from what appears to be our phone number. If you receive a phone call from our non-emergency number and you believe it to be suspicious, you may end the call, then call back in yourself to verify if the call is legitimate.

Remember, we will not try to sell you anything. Rarely, if ever, would we endorse a specific product or company and assist them in selling a product. Even if we did, a sales call would not come from our non-emergency number. Please be vigilant of the "scammers" out there and the constantly changing ways that they come up with to separate you from your hard earned dollars!! Feel free to contact our non-emergency number at anytime and speak with an Officer or a Communications Operator to verify any calls that you receive from the Beavercreek Police Department, especially if they just don't sound right!
