Man Wanted for Committing 9 Armed Robberies Arrested After Foot Pursuit

On January 12, 2017, a male wanted for committing nine armed
robberies of convenience stores was arrested after a foot pursuit.
Detective Steve Melchiore received information that Eric
Smith, who has been wanted since December, was on Atlantic Avenue. Officer Ermindo Marsini located Smith at Kentucky
and Atlantic Avenues. Smith fled on foot
when Officer Marsini attempted to stop him.
Officer Marsini was able to catch Smith and take him into custody.
Smith was identified as a suspect in the robberies after an
investigation by Detectives Dawn Riggs and Keith Wendling.
ARRESTED: Eric Smith,
a 40 year old male from Atlantic City.
CHARGES: Nine counts
each of robbery, unlawful possession of a weapon, and possession of a weapon
for an unlawful purpose. He was additionally
charged with obstruction of justice and resisting arrest.
Smith was remanded to the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
