     On 11/28/16, while working with the SPCA of Westchester, P.O. William Pataky arrested suspect Christina Harris for animal cruelty in relation to a dog which was abandoned on a city street, this dog subsequently died of starvation shortly after being located and sent for emergency treatment.   During this investigation, P.O. Pataky searched an apartment where the suspect had previously resided and located a 5 month old kitten which was abandoned inside of the apartment for approximately 5 days.  This kitten was taken to the Yonkers Animal Shelter for medical treatment and has made a full recovery. 

     Today, P.O. Pataky formally adopted the kitten from the Yonkers Animal Shelter after completing the adoption process.  P.O. Pataky took the kitten from the shelter to give her a new home and a yet to be determined name. When asked about today’s adoption, P.O. Pataky commented “I consider myself fortunate to be able to provide a home for this animal.  I don’t know what I will name her yet, but it will be fun coming up with a special name for her.”  P.O. Pataky has worked on many animal cruelty cases with SPCA of Westchester Chief Investigator Ernie Lungaro, particularly cases involving animal neglect in southwest Yonkers. 

     The Yonkers Police Department would like to encourage anyone wishing to adopt a cat or dog to call the Yonkers Animal Shelter at 914-377-6730.  The shelter is located at 1000 Ridge Hill Boulevard (exit 6A off the northbound NYS Thruway).
