Press Release: Operation "Paws "
Operation “Paws”
Search Warrant Leads to Seizure of 10
Dogs and 8 Puppies
Based on a two week
ongoing investigation, on October 18, 2016, Pelham Police Animal Control
Officer Allison Caprigno, along with surrounding Animal Control Officers
executed a search warrant at an address on Jonathon Road in Pelham, New
Hampshire. The search warrant was granted for the purpose of checking the
health and welfare of the dogs at that residence.
At approximately
9:25 am, ACOs from Hudson, Windham, and Salem assisted ACO Caprigno and members
of the Pelham Police Department in executing the search warrant. Immediately as
they made entry into the house they smelled a very strong odor of ammonia and
urine. As they searched the home they located dog feces on top of a DVD player
located on the floor of the living room. One Pitbull was underweight and locked
in a bathroom. The interior of the bathroom door had been scratched and torn apart
from dogs being left there for an extended period of time. There were two Pitbulls
located in crates in the middle of the kitchen. Upstairs they located a Rottweiler
mix that had recently given birth to eight puppies. Also upstairs they located dog
feces on the carpet in a few of the bedrooms and offices.
In the basement
there were five additional dogs located. The floor of the basement garage was
covered with urine puddles. There was one aggressive Pitbull located outside in
a kennel.
All the dogs were
seized as a result of the search warrant. They were all brought to the
Rockingham Emergency Veterinary Hospital in Windham, NH to be examined. ACO
Caprigno believes that there are at least 15 Pitbull/Pitbull mix dogs that the
resident was caring for that are still unaccounted for. She is asking anyone
with information about the other dogs to contact her at (603) 635 -2411 or acaprigno@pelhampolice.com.
As a result of the
investigation and search warrant there will likely be Animal Cruelty charges
brought forth for the owner of the property, Kevin Rocheville.
There are pictures
attached of the dogs seized. If there are any questions you can contact Lt.
Anne Perriello, (603) 635-2411 or aperriello@pelhampolice.com
