Five Charged With Illegal Guns
On Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2016 at 4:59 p.m., officers from the City of Poughkeepsie Police Department stopped a blue Ford Mustang in the area of 190 Mill Street. Found inside the car was a small amount of marijuana and two loaded handguns. Arrested on two counts each of second-degree Criminal Possession of a Weapon, a felony, were: 19-year-old MICAHEL AZUA; 16-year-old ZAIRE BIRKS; 20-year-old RAYSHAWN CASANOVA; 17-year-old ISAIAH DOUGLAS; and 18-year-old SHAQUAN PERRIN, all City of Poughkeepsie residents.
All were arraigned in City Court before the Honorable Frank Mora and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail on the following bails: AZUA $100,000 bond or $200,000 bail; BIRKS $25,000 bond or $50,000 bail; Douglas $50,000 bond or $100,000 bail; PERRIN $50,000 bond or $100,000 bail, and CASANOVA $100,000 bond or $200,000 bail.
These two handguns bring the total to 23 handguns seized in the City of Poughkeepsie so far this year.
