NEWS RELEASE: COLLISIONS

Driver #1: Yu Ren 39 of Philadelphia PA

Driver #2: Edward Bailey Jr. 41 of Forest Grove Road

Driver # 1 advised he was west bound on Landis Avenue, approaching Delsea Drive.  Driver # 1 told me while traveling through the intersection, two vehicles turned in front of him.  Driver #1 advised he applied the vehicle brakes, but could not stop in time, and struck vehicle #2.  Driver #1 did not have a complaint of pain and EMS was not called to the scene.  

 

Driver #2 stated he was east bound on Landis Avenue in the left turn only lane attempting to turn left on to North Delsea Drive.  Driver #2 said the traffic light signal turned yellow, and he did not see any oncoming vehicle so he proceeded to make a left turn.  Driver #2 advised while turning, Driver #1 proceeded through the intersection and struck his vehicle.  Driver #2 did not have a complaint of pain, and EMS was not called to the scene.   

 

Vehicle #1 sustained damage to the front bumper portion, and was towed from the scene by Rock Towing.  Vehicle #2 sustained damage to the rear passenger side door and quarter panel portion.  Vehicle #2 was driven from the scene by Driver #2.

Driver #1 states he was traveling south bound on S. East Ave behind Vehicle #2, when Vehicle #2 abruptly stopped at the intersection of S. East Ave and Florence Ave causing an unavoidable to rear end collision.

Driver #1 sustained an abrasion to the left forearm and complained of chest pain, Driver #1 was evaluated by Vineland EMS and refused transport to the emergency room.

Vehicle #1 sustained moderate frontend damage and was towed by the Rock Towing.

 

Driver #2 states she was traveling south bound on S. East Ave and as she slowed her vehicle to make a left turn onto Florence, she was rear-ended by Vehicle #1 who was behind her.

Driver #2 complained of left sided body pain

Occupant in passenger seat complained of neck, back and left sided rib pain

Occupant in driver side rear complained of head pain

Occupant in passenger side rear complained back pain

Occupant in middle rear complained of back and left sided hip pain

Driver #2 and occupants were all transported to Vineland Inspira by Vineland EMS.

Vehicle #2 sustained moderate rear-end damage and was towed by Bee’s Brothers Towing

 

Driver #1 was issued summons #0614-VC-010730 for Careless Driving 39:4-97

Driver # 1 stated at the scene that she was emerging from the driveway of Bank of America, located at 470 N. Delsea Drive.  Driver # 1 said she thought it was clear to proceed through the intersection, and proceeded onto N. Delsea Drive.  At that time Vehicle # 1 struck the front right portion of vehicle # 2, whom was traveling south on N. Delsea Drive.  Driver # 1 did not complain of pain and both the driver and passenger refused medical treatment at the scene.  I observed minor damage to the front portion of vehicle # 1.

Driver # 2 said he was traveling south on N. Delsea Drive and was slowing down to make a left hand turn.  He said as he was traveling, vehicle # 1 emerged from the driveway of Bank of America and struck the front of his vehicle.  I observed minor damage to the front right portion of his vehicle.  Driver # 2 refused medical treatment at the scene.

Driver # 1 was issued summons # 0614-V-4523 for Improper emerging from a driveway.

Driver #2: Marisol Garcia 52 of Cherry Street

Driver#1 stated she was traveling east on West Oak Rd, crossing over N Delsea Drive after the traffic light had turned green. D#1 stated Driver#2 did not stop at the red traffic signal on N Delsea Dr and struck her vehicle.

D#1's vehicle sustained heavy front end damage and was towed from the scene by Bee-Brothers Towing. D#1 had no complaints of pain or injuries on scene.

Driver#2 stated she was traveling south on North Delsea Dr. D#2 stated she believed the traffic light was still green at the intersection of W Oak Rd. D#2 proceeded through the intersection, when she collided with D#1.

D#2's vehicle had heavy front end damage and was towed from the scene by Rock Towing. D#2 had no complaints of pain or injuries on scene.

D#2 was issued the following motor vehicle summonses:

Driver #2: Javier Santiago 44 of N. Main Road

Driver 1 stated she was stopped at the red light facing north on S Delsea Dr. Driver 1 stated she had looked up and observed the light had turned to green and began to move. Driver 1 stated that Driver 2 did not begin to move and she struck the rear end of the vehicle. Driver 1 sustained very minor damage (bent license plate) to the vehicle. Driver 1 claimed no injuries at the scene.

Driver 2 stated he was also stopped at the intersection facing north. While waiting for the light to turn green, Driver 2 stated he was struck from the rear. Driver 2 sustained very minor damage to the rear bumper (scratch). Driver 2 complained of pain to his neck, however, refused medical attention from Vineland EMS. The passenger of Driver 2's vehicle also complained of pain to her lower back. She also refused medical treatment. 

 

Both vehicle were driven from the scene.

On July 1, 2016, I was dispatched to the area of North East Avenue and Timberbrook Drive, in regards to a motor vehicle collision.

Upon my arrival on scene, driver #1 stated while backing out of his driveway, traveling in a West direction, he looked and did not see vehicle #2 behind him.

Driver #2 (United States Postal Service) stated while stopped, facing South on North East Avenue, placing mail in a mailbox, driver #1 backed up and hit her vehicle.  Driver #2 further said she blew the horn prior to driver #1 hitting her vehicle.

No injuries were reported.

Both vehicles sustained minor damage.

Driver #1: Gabriel Diaz 26 of Millville

Driver #2: William Kelly 59 of Millville

 Driver 1 stated he was south on Delsea Dr approaching the traffic light at College Dr and attempted to slow his vehicle for the red light. He stated as he did his vehicle slid and pulled to the right causing him to crash into Vehicle 2.  Upon inspection of Vehicle 1 I found that the front right tire was completely flat.  

Driver 2 stated he was stopped at the traffic light southbound at Delsea Dr and College Dr when Vehicle 1 crashed into his vehicle.  

NOTE: At the time of the crash there was a heavy rain/wind storm passing through the area which left the roadway with an abundance of water on top.

The MVR in my low profile Vineland Police Traffic Unit patrol vehicle, T5, a 2011 grey Dodge Charger was recording for the duration of the call.

Driver#1 stated he was traveling east on West Sherman Ave. D#1 was struck in the rear by D#2.

D#1's vehicle had minor damage to the rear bumper.

D#1 refused medical treatment on scene by VEMS.

Driver#2 stated she was traveling east on West Sherman Ave. D#2 said she attempted to stop, but was unable due to the roads being extremely flooded. D#2 struck the rear of D#1's vehicle.

D#2's vehicle had heavy front end damage and airbag deployment. D#2 refused medical treatment on scene by VEMS.


*NOTE: This collision occurred during an extremely heavy down pour and severe roadway flooding.

Driver 1 stated he was travelling west on E Grant Ave approaching the intersection of Allegheny Ave. Driver 1 stated as he passed the intersection, he drove through a large puddle. While travelling through the puddle, he attempted to slow his vehicle and began to slide. Driver 1 continued to slide towards the north side of the road until striking a utility pole. Driver 1 sustained major damage to the front of his vehicle which was subsequently towed by Bee Brother's Towing. Driver 1 claimed no injuries at the scene.

Driver #2: Unknown (Hit and Run)

On this date I was patrolling the area of Main and Roberts due to the severe raining that caused flooding throughout the city of Vineland. This weather caused numerous collisions and vehicle flooding's.

While in this area I was approached by a male subject who advised me his wife was involved in a collision on the intersection.

I spoke with Driver # 1 who stated she slowed down after seeing the road flooded and her vehicle was struck by a dark in color pickup truck. After the collision the truck left the area. Driver # 1 stated she was unable to obtain a detailed description of the vehicle and could not also provide a license plate number. Driver #1 stated she was not hurt and refused medical treatment. Her vehicle sustained damage to the rear bumper which was out of its original standing point. There were no witnesses to the collision. The suspect vehicle was not located.

Driver #2: Jose Rosado 31 of Millville NJ

Driver # 1 advised she was stopped in traffic on the west bound lane of East Park Avenue, at the intersection of East Park Avenue and North Valley Avenue, vehicle # 2.  Driver # 1 sated that the traffic light controlling her lane of travel was red.  While stopped, Driver # 1 advised she became momentarily distracted, which caused her to remove her foot from the brake.  When Driver # 1 noticed her vehicle start to roll forward, she told me instead of applying her vehicle's brakes she hit the accelerator causing her vehicle to move forward and strike the rear of vehicle # 2. 

Driver # 2 advised he was stopped in traffic on the west bound lane of East Park Avenue for a red traffic light at the intersection of East Park Avenue and North Valley Avenue.  Driver # 2 advised that while he was stopped his vehicle was struck in the rear by vehicle # 1.

Investigation revealed that Driver # 1 inattention was the cause of this crash.  Driver # 1 was issued a summons # 0614 VC 011652 for careless driving 39:4-97.  No injuries were reported as a result of this collision.

Driver #1: David Bell 52 of the 100 block of N. 4th Street

On 7/1/2016, I was flagged down by Driver 1, who stated he just struck a parked vehicle (vehicle 2,) on Harvard Street. Driver 1 stated he was making a right turn onto Harvard Street, when his vehicle collided with Vehicle 2, causing minor damage to the front passenger side wheel well. The damage to Vehicle 1 was not visible. Driver 1 claimed no injuries on scene. 

 

The owner of Vehicle 2 was advised, and she stated she didn’t see anything, but heard the collision and came out to see. She stated the vehicle doesn’t run so it cannot be moved regardless. 

 

Both vehicles were left on scene and no summonses were issued.

Driver #1 stated as she was south bound on Second St she lost control of the vehicle when she crossed over Almond St. Upon losing control of her vehicle she collided into a parked vehicle.

The owner of the parked vehicle, Carlos Cruz, was located and provided his vehicle's information.

As a result of the collision vehicle #1 sustained moderate front end damage. Driver #1 claimed not to be injured.

The parked vehicle sustained minor bumper and quarter fender damage.

Vehicle #1 was towed by Ayala Towing.

Driver # 1 was issued a summons for careless driving / VC-009276

Driver #1 stated that he was travelling north on North Main Road when he signaled that he was going to make a right turn into the property of the State School. He began slowing down to make the turn and was rear ended by vehicle #2

Driver #2 stated that he was traveling north on North Main Road when vehicle #1 in front of him began turning. He thought he had enough room to go around vehicle #1, however did not and rear ended the vehicle.

Both drivers stated they were ok and did not need EMS.

Vehicle #1 had heavy rear end damage and Vehicle #2 had heavy front end damage.

Driver #1 left his vehicle on state school property, however Driver #2 was able to drive his vehicle home.

Driver #2 was issued a summons for Careless Driving, Summons #0614-E16-001494
