Police Probe Two Shootings

On Sunday, June 19, 2016 at 11:15 p.m., City 911 received numerous calls for reported shots fired in the area of Maple Street (Rt 44/55 westbound) and North Cherry Street. Responding officers found a 21-year-old city resident shot twice in both legs. The victim was transported to a local hospital where he underwent treatment for his injuries, which are not considered life threatening.
The victim states he did not know who shot him. Our investigation leads us to believe the victim was the intended target of the shooter. A total of 12 shell casings were recovered at the scene. This is the second time this subject has been the victim of a shooting in the City of Poughkeepsie. Anyone with information on this shooting, or any shooting, should call the City of Poughkeepsie Police Department's confidential Tip Line at 451-7577.
On Tuesday, June 21, 2016 at 5:26 p.m., City 911 received several calls reporting shots fired in the area of Hulme Park on Market Street; as units were responding a call was received reporting a man shot in front of 12 Noxon St. Responding units found a 23-year-old city resident with a gunshot wound to his lower right leg. He was transported to a local hospital where he underwent surgery. His wound is not life threatening.
The victim stated he did not know who shot him. However, our investigation leads us to believe he was the intended target of the shooter. A total of eight shell casings were recovered from the scene. Anyone with information on this shooting, or any shooting, should call the City of Poughkeepsie Police Department's confidential Tip Line at 451-7577.
