(VICTORIA,TX) – Detectives with the Victoria Police Department arrested 29 year-old April Mae Gomez in connection with today’s shooting.

Wednesday, June 8, 2016, at 7:47 am, VPD Officers responded to the 2300 block of Louis Street following a report of a shooting. On arrival, the officers located 40 year-old Eliverto Salinas with a gunshot wound to the head. EMS personnel transported Salinas from the scene to Detar Navarro.

Twenty-nine year-old April Mae Gomez, of Victoria, has been arrested in connection with the shooting.  Gomez was booked into the Victoria County jail for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon Family Violence (Texas Penal Code 22.02 (b) (1). The circumstances surrounding the shooting remains under investigation, therefore specific details regarding the case cannot be released at this time.
