On Sunday, April 10, 2016 at approximately 1839 hours, Officer Aston Rodriguez responded to the area of West Oak Street at Loop 256 in Palestine, Anderson County, Texas, in reference to a reckless driver.

The officer was advised that a 2001 White Chevrolet pickup had ran over a curb, as witnessed by a caller, and was driving erratically.

The officer came upon the vehicle and attempted to conduct a traffic stop, using his overhead lights, after observing the vehicle Fail to Maintain a Single Lane, in the area of W. Palestine @ Court Dr. The vehicle failed to yield, and continued Eastbound on Palestine Avenue, turning Northbound on Conway, and finally stopping at a residence in the 1300 Block of N. Conway.

The driver, 26 year old Hispanic male, of Palestine, got out of the vehicle and refused to comply with lawful orders to stop. The officer then attempted to arrest the subject for Evading W/ Vehicle. A struggle ensued, with the suspect being taken to the ground and eventually handcuffed.

The subject was transported to Anderson County Jail, where he was charged with Driving While Intoxicated, 3rd or More; Evading Arrest/Det W/ Vehicle; Resist Arrest, Search or Transportation; Fail to Identify, Fugitive from Justice. The suspect was also arrested on an outstanding Probation Violation Warrant out of Anderson County.

The suspect’s name is to be released after Arraignment.
