Synopsis: On 2/18/16 at 12:52am Vineland Police was contacted in regards to a red vehicle parked in front of 1527 Venus Drive with damage to the front end of the vehicle. Upon arrival it was determined Vehicle 2 was involved in a collision. During the course of the investigation a second vehicle was discovered to be involved in the collision parked in front of a residence 50-75 yards away. It was determined that the Black Camaro with damaged several houses away was involved in the collision with vehicle 2. At the time of the initial investigation,  the black Camaro listed at vehicle 1 was left at the scene with no driver or keys in the ignition. It was determined the vehicle was registered to a Teague Clarke. Several attempts were made to get in contact with Clarke which returned negative to his cell phone number and residence in Millville, NJ.

Details: Upon the course of conducting a separate investigation, I recognized Teague Clarke who was working in Footlocker at the Cumberland Mall. I spoke with Teague briefly regarding the situation and asked to respond to the police department as a part of my crash investigation regarding the Camaro registered to him involved in this collision.

Clarke responded to the station and I inquired as to what happened the evening his vehicle was involved in the collision. Clarke stated he was working a lot on the day of collision and left his uncle's house on Venus Drive. Clarke stated while he was driving he fell asleep at the wheel and struck vehicle 2.

Clarke stated he exited the vehicle taking the key out of the ignition. Clarke stated he checked vehicle 2 to see if it had any occupants in it and then left on foot towards his uncle's house on Venus Drive.

The following summonses were issued to Clarke as a result of this collision:

- VC-010134 - Failure to Report (39:4-130)

Driver #2: Crystal Brown 34 of Bridgeton NJ

Driver #1 stated she was at the stop sign facing south bound when she believed she had the right of way and proceeded to make a left hand turn onto Hennis Road from the Cumberland Mall’s property (3849 South Delsea Drive). Driver #1 stated at that time, Vehicle #2 struck her vehicle at a right angle and “ran the stop sign” heading east bound. Due to the inconsistent statements and no witnesses, I checked with Cumberland Mall Security and reviewed their video surveillance of the roadway. I responded to the Security Office and met with Gage Whilden (Security). Reviewing the video surveillance, I observed the collision to have occurred at 1224hrs. Both Vehicle #1 and #2 appeared to not have come to a complete stop. I also observed both vehicles to approach the intersection approximately at the same time.

Both drivers did not have a complaint of pain.

Vehicle #1’s sustained moderate damage to the front passenger side fender.

Vehicle #2’s sustained moderate damage to the front driver side fender.

No summons issued as I determined both vehicles share some type of fault for the collision. Both drivers were advised of their options and I requested a copy of the video surveillance for my investigation from Gage Whilden. Whilden stated a copy should be ready for pickup in a few days.

Date: 3/27/2016

Time: 12:50 PM

Location: Canterbury Lane and Hancebridge Road

Case#; 18197-2016

Officer: Warrington

Driver #1: Unknown (Hit and Run)

On this date March 27, 2016 I was dispatched to Canterbury Lane and Hancebridge Road in regards to a hit and run collision.

Upon my arrival, I spoke with Eugene Sager, complainant/property owner at 3840 Canterbury Lane. Mr. Sager indicated last night (3/27/2016) around 2:00 A.M. he heard a loud bang. Mr. Sager looked out his bedroom window but did not see anything at that time, so he went back to sleep. Mr. Sager decided to walk his property line this morning to discover his spilt rail fence and the stop sign was damaged at the corner of Canterbury Lane and Hancebridge. Mr. Sager valued the damage to his fence at approximately $200.00.

Investigation at the scene revealed an unknown vehicle left the roadway of Hancebridge Road at the corner of Canterbury Lane.  The unknown vehicle struck the curb taking a chunk out of the concrete. After the initial impact the vehicle continued in a North West direction striking a stop sign and a split rail fence.  The vehicle then traveled North West across the lawn of 3840 Canterbury Lane until it came back to the roadway. The lawn was not damaged. The lawn only had ghost tire marks in the tall grass.  Once the vehicle was on the roadway the vehicle was leaking oil and I could follow the oil on the pavement. The vehicle went to the end of Canterbury Lane and turned around. The vehicle came back to Hancebridge road again. At this point the vehicle must have stopped leaking oil as I could no longer locate any oil on the pavement.   I checked the surrounding area with negative results for the vehicle.

Dispatcher E. Santiago contacted Cumberland County Road Department to respond to the scene to put the stop sign back up.

Driver #1: Unknown (Hit and Run)

On 29 March 2016, I was dispatched to 1508 Mays Landing Road (OVT Bar) in regards to a hit and run collision.  Upon my arrival, I spoke with Michael G. Dennis who reported that an unknown female was leaving the parking lot and apparently backed into his 2004 Ford Ranger (NJ R12BTD) which was parked directly across a stall from hers.  Dennis informed me that he did not witness the collision since he was inside the establishment but stated that another subject identified as Joe Bowen witnessed the collision.

I then spoke with Bowen, who indicated that he was standing outside of the main entrance when a black pickup truck began backing out of the unmarked parking stall and backed into Dennis' vehicle before leaving the property.  He stated that he was not aware if the driver of the pickup even realized she struck Dennis' vehicle or not, since she did not get out and the damage to the truck was so minor.

Dennis advised me that he received information from other patrons in the bar that the female who struck his vehicle went by the name "Christine" and had a phone number of 8569-974-3612.  He stated that he personally contacted Christine and began speaking with her regarding the collision.  He stated that she made no statements and hung up the phone.  He also indicated he received information that she was possibly intoxicated.  I made several attempts to contact Christine at this number but was unable to make contact with her.  I left a message on the cell phone mailbox for her to contact me at this department.

The collision occurred on the property in front of the business.  The damage to the Dennis' vehicle was a minor dent on the driver's side rear corner just under the taillight.  At this time, no summonses have been issued until the driver of the suspect vehicle can be positively identified.
