Palestine Police Department Investigating Overnight Shooting

(Palestine, TX) - The Palestine Police Department is releasing further information regarding Monday night’s shooting.
According to Palestine Police Department Sergeant Justin Willoughby, the incident began as a verbal argument that quickly escalated. “The Patrol Division was dispatched to the 500 block of Variah St. in reference to a 9-1-1 call asking for help because someone had been shot, stated Sgt. Willoughby. “When our units arrived, the involved parties had already left the scene. Through the course of the initial investigation, we found that two subjects had been involved in a verbal altercation which escalated to the shots being fired and one of the subjects being injured.”
One of the involved parties was transported to the Palestine Regional Medical Center by personal vehicle. That subject was later transferred to Trinity Mother Francis in Tyler for further treatment, where he remains in stable condition. The other subject, later identified as 48 year old Michael Fuller of Palestine, was arrested for the charge of “Deadly Conduct”, a class A misdemeanor.

On 01-12-16 at approximately 1825 hrs, Officers with the Palestine Police Department were dispatched to the 500 block of Variah St. in reference to a reported shooting.
On arrival, the officers found that one person had been injured in the shooting. The victim, whose identity is being withheld, was transported to Palestine Regional Medical Center for the treatment of a gunshot wound to his leg by personal vehicle prior the arrival of the officers.
