Location: Grant Ave. and Delsea Drive

Case#; 72544-2015

Officer; Johnathan Rodriguez

Driver #1: Anna King 18 of the 2000 block of Perna Lane

Driver #2: Kenneth Thomas 26 of Millville NJ

Driver #1 Anna King, made the following statements regarding this collision.  King stated she was traveling west bound on W Grant Ave, and came to a stop at S Delsea Dr.  King indicated she wanted to cross the street to enter Auto Outlet, where she worked, but had to wait a while due to heavy traffic on S Delsea Dr.

While waiting, King related driver #2 Kenneth Thomas, pulled up behind her along with several other vehicles.  King stated she saw a possible break in traffic, and moved up further to have a better look at the oncoming traffic, but realized she wouldn't have time to cross, therefore she applied her brakes again.  At that time King stated she felt her vehicle jolt forward, and after looking in the rear view mirror she had learned that Thomas's vehicle had struck her vehicle on the rear bumper.  King then was able to cross the street and park in the lot at Auto Outlet waiting for Thomas to pull over with her due to the collision.

Thomas then pulled out onto S Delsea Dr, in front of Auto Outlet and began to yell and curse at King, which at that time King's boss, Steve Bareiszis, was already outside at that time and witnessed the incident, informed Thomas he was calling the police.  King and Bareiszis stated a female from Thomas vehicle exited the vehicle and ran up to King's vehicle where the vehicle was struck and took a picture before getting back into Thomas vehicle and fleeing the scene.

Driver #2 Kenneth Thomas stated he was traveling west bound on W Grant Ave, and came to a stop behind King at the stop sign at S Delsea Dr.  Thomas stated he could see that King was on her cell phone waiting to enter traffic, but seemed unsure as to when she wanted to turn.  Thomas indicated King began to pull out into traffic as if she was making a right hand turn, therefore he began to move up while looking south bound on S Delsea Dr, in an attempt to pull out into traffic as well since the traffic was heavy.  When King looked north bound on S Delsea Dr, he learned that King never actually pulled out into traffic but had stopped, causing Thomas to slam his brakes.  Thomas indicated he was able to stop just short of Kings vehicle and never actually hit her vehicle.

After Thomas stopped, he stated King then drove across the street, and observed a man ( Bareiszis), yelling to him.  Thomas then pulled out into traffic and parked in front of Auto Outlet, where Tamara Leonard, jumped out to check if both vehicles actually did make contact.  Tamara then jumped back into Thomas's vehicle, while at the same time Bareiszis yelled at them some more, but they were unsure of what he was saying.  Thomas indicated Bareiszis then made a waving motion indicating for Thomas to leave, therefore Thomas left.

Witness#1 Steve Bareiszis, indicated he was outside when he observed King stopped at the stop sign waiting to cross.  While watching King, Bareiszis then saw Thomas's vehicle strike the rear of King's vehicle.  King then crossed the street and entered Auto Outlet where he asked King as reassurance, if Thomas's vehicle struck her vehicle, which at that she confirmed.  Bareiszis then waved at Thomas to come over to the lot in an attempt to exchange information, but Thomas just parked in front of Auto Outlet and began to yell at King.  Bareiszis then witnessed Tamara jump out of the vehicle and take a picture of King's vehicle before jumping back into Thomas's vehicle.  Bareiszis stated he was going to call police, and that's when Thomas then fled the scene.

Bareiszis was able to provide me with the tag for Thomas's vehicle, which I was able to investigate further and retrieve a phone number for Thomas.  I contacted Thomas and asked him to return to police headquarters so I can obtain his motor vehicle information and statement regarding such.  Thomas returned to the station and provided me with the statement above.

Thomas was issued summons 0614-VC-008632, 39:4-129B, leaving the scene of an Accident.  Thomas's vehicle had a black scuff mark on the passenger front bumper, but stated that has always been on his vehicle.

King's vehicle sustained minor damage, with a scuff mark to the driver rear bumper.

None of the parties or there passengers complained of pain at this time.
