On Friday, October 30, 2015, I was dispatched to 84 South West Avenue (Dorazio Terrace,) for a hit and run collision.
When I arrived on scene, I spoke with the operator of Vehicle #1, who stated the vehicle was parked at the time of the collision, and did not know anything about the incident, except that her vehicle was struck.
Two witnesses who saw the incident, began to explain what happened. While speaking to witness #1, she reported she witnessed a gray colored Nissan (NJ Reg STM81D,) back into Vehicle #1, causing minor damage to both vehicle’s, rear, driver’s side bumper. She added the driver of Vehicle #2 then left the scene. According to her, the driver of Vehicle #2 did not stop or hesitate at all when the collision occurred.
Witness #2 confirmed the first witness’s statement by explaining the same thing, which was Vehicle #2 backed into Vehicle #1, and then left the scene.
After being advised by Police Dispatch that the registration of Vehicle #2 came back to a local address, I attempted to further my investigation by going to the residence and speaking with the driver of Vehicle #2.
I arrived at the address that the NJ Reg STM81D was registered to, and immediately noticed similar damage on the driver’s side rear bumper, which was very similar to the damage on Vehicle #1. I spoke with the driver, and after several minutes after being asked, she could not produce a proper insurance card for the registered vehicle. She then admitted to having driven from the location of 84 South West Avenue, but stated she did not hit any vehicles that were parked there.
The driver of Vehicle #2 was issued the following summonses:
