YONKERS PD AND SPCA OF WESTCHESTER JOINT INVESTIGATION AND ARREST OF SUSPECT FOR ANIMAL CRUELTY.
On 10-22-15, the Yonkers Police Department responded to an apartment at 86 Convent Place on a report of a foul odor. Investigation revealed two dogs at the location, both of which were emaciated and unkempt. YPD personnel immediately had both dogs removed to the Yonkers Animal Shelter for subsequent care and treatment.
4th Precinct Police Officer William Pataky started an investigation with SPCA Chief Ernest Lungaro into the origin and ownership of these two animals and they subsequently developed a suspect who was responsible for the care of these animals. An exam of the dogs showed that both were underweight, dehydrated, and kept in an unhygienic environment for an extended period of time.
On 10-23-15 Police Officer William Pataky arrested suspect Nicholas Kolmer, a 23 year old Yonkers resident. This suspect was subsequently arraigned for two counts of animal cruelty on 10-27-15 in Yonkers Criminal Court. All suspects are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
