Press Release: Collisions
Date: 4/25/2015
Time: 1:45 PM
Location: Almond Street and S.W. Boulevard
Case#: 23251-2015
Officer: Sherban
Driver #1: Reyna Aguilar-Diaz 25 of the 200 block of W. Elmer Steet
Driver #2: Justin Davala 29 of Blenheim NJ
On this date I was dispatched to SW Blvd/Almond St in regards to a two car collision with no injuries. Upon arrival, I observed two vehicles with significant front end damage. I spoke to Driver #2 who related that he was traveling Westbound on Almond Street as he crossed over the railroad tracks and began to Yield for oncoming traffic traveling Southbound on the SW Boulevard. Driver #2 further stated that there was a tractor trailer parked on the SW Boulevard (in the area of parking stalls, not lane of travel) that obstructed his view. After he yielded, Driver #2 stated that he proceeded through the intersection to continue Westbound on Almond St when he saw Vehicle #1 traveling Southbound at a high rate of speed striking his vehicle. Amanda Acosta (W/F/24) was the front passenger in vehicle #2. She related that she happened to look up and saw vehicle #1 "Flying" on the SW Boulevard and other than that she just saw "the hit" when vehicle #2 was struck by vehicle #1. NOTE: There is a Yield Sign for Westbound traffic on Almond St and no type of traffic control device for southbound traffic on SW Boulevard. Neither Driver #1 nor his passenger (Acosta) was injured. Through translation by Ptl Mayte Soto, I was able to obtain information and a statement from Driver #1. She related that she was traveling Southbound on SW Boulevard when she approached the intersection of SW Boulevard/Almond St. As she approached the intersection she saw that vehicle #2 did not Yield before entering the intersection. As a result, she was unable to avoid striking vehicle #2 as she passed through the intersection. Driver #1 complained of back pain as well as pain in the left shoulder and wrist which she believed was from the deployment of vehicle #1's airbag. Driver #1 had her three year old son in the rear seat of the vehicle who was sleeping and restrained in a car seat in the rear right side of the vehicle. They were both checked out by EMS but Driver #1 stated her son was fine and she refused medical transport from Vineland EMS Unit 622 that was on the scene. Due to the damage of both vehicles, they were both towed from the scene. Vehicle #1 was towed by Court House Towing after sustaining substantial damage to the front of the vehicle. Vehicle #2 was towed by JC Towing after sustaining substantial damage to the front right side of the vehicle. Driver #1 was unlicensed and was issued Summons # VC-003303 for 39:3-10. Driver #2 was issued Summons # VC-003302 for 39:4-144. A subpoena for Amanda Acosta (passenger/vehicle #2) was turned in with this report. * Vehicle #1 was insured by Home State County Mutual Insurance out of Texas with policy # TXS820040-00 and a policy expiration of 10/2015. There was no three digit insurance code.

Driver #1: Kimon Myrie 30 of the 2000 block of Alberic Street
Driver #2: Edgar Medina 43 of the 300 block of Grape Street
Driver #2 stated he was traveling east bound on W Landis Ave (just west of S Mill Rd) slowing down when he was suddenly rear ended by vehicle #1. Driver #2 stated he pulled off to the side of the roadway where Driver #1 spoke to him (appearing intoxicated) and drove off after 2 occupants jumped out of the vehicle. Driver #2 stated the vehicle then fled the area as he checked on his family in the vehicle. Driver #2 stated the 2 occupants (Briant Kollock and Leo Allen) later asked if he and his family were ok. I then spoke to Briant and Leo who stated they were in the backseat (admittedly drinking and later picked up) who stated they know the driver as Kimon and the vehicle was registered to his wife. Briant stated it was a green can and I was provided a partial tag by Driver #2 (of NJ-V73D) With this information I identified the Driver as Kimon Myrie and the vehicle being registered to Christy Myrie (by utilizing the Tag reader and my prior contacts with both parties). The area was checked and negative for the vehicle. There were no complaints of pain at the scene. Kimon was later located (Case #23440-15), transported to the station (on multiple outstanding warrants) where he was issued the following summons: 0614-VC-003056 in violation of 39:4-89 (Tailgating), 0614-VC-003057 in violation of 39:3-4 (Unregistered), 0614-VC-003058 in violation of 39:3-129D (Leaving the Scene) and 0614-VC-003059 in violation of 39:3-40 (Suspended DL.)
