Saturday, December 06, 2014 I responded to the area of North Delsea Drive and Weymouth Road for a three vehicle crash. Upon arriving, I first determined that there was only one person claiming that they were injured. Driver #3 was reporting a complaint of pain to the back and neck area; she and her one year old son were both taken to the hospital by EMTs for further treatment.
Driver #1 explained that he was traveling north on Delsea Drive and was approaching the traffic light located at Weymouth Road and Delsea. According to him, when he attempted to apply the brakes and stop his vehicle, he began skidding on the roadway. It should be noted that the roadway was wet and the environmental conditions were rain at the time. Driver #1 explained he was not able to stop his vehicle and slid into the back of vehicle #2. After speaking with Driver #1, I then spoke with driver #2 who explained the following.
Driver #2 explained that she was also traveling north on Delsea Drive and that she was stopped in traffic, waiting for the traffic light at Weymouth Road and Delsea. Driver #2 explained that while she was stopped in traffic, she was suddenly hit from behind by driver #2. Driver #2 explained that the force of that collision pushed her vehicle into vehicle #3 which was directly in front of hers. After speaking with Driver #2, I then spoke with Driver #3.
Driver #3 explained that she was also traveling north on Delsea Drive, and stopped in traffic waiting for the traffic light. Driver #3 stated she heard the sound of screeching tires behind her and suddenly she was hit from behind.
