Recruitment OPEN for Next Citizens Police Academy

EL PASO, TEXAS – The El Paso Police Department will be conducting its next Citizens Police Academy beginning on Tuesday, September 30, 2014. The course will be conducted in English and will take participants on a journey that will provide them a greater insight into the operation of the El Paso Police Department. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and NOT in high school. Class size is limited so applications will be accepted and processed on a first come-first served basis. The classes will be held at various police facilities throughout the city however most classes will be held at Police Headquarters located at 911 N. Raynor. Classes will meet in the evening every Tuesday (7:00pm – 9:00pm) as well as two Saturday mornings (9:00am – 1:00pm) . Participants will have an opportunity to experience a ride along with a patrol officer at one of our 5 Regional Commands. Topics discussed will include Patrol Operations, Traffic Enforcement and Accident Investigations, Homicide Investigations, Gang Investigations, Narcotics Investigations, Internal Affairs and Crime scene to name a few. There will also be presentations from our SWAT Team, Crisis Negotiations Team, Canine and Bomb Squad. Applications can be picked up at all Police Regional Commands as well as at Police Headquarters.
