Recruitment for Summer Youth Academy Opens Today

 

Session 1:

Date/Time:       June 23-27, 2014 @  9:00a.m. -  4:00p.m.

Location:         Pebble Hills Regional Command – 10780 Pebble Hills

 

Session 2:

Date/Time:       July 14-18, 2014  @  9:00a.m. – 4:00p.m.

Location:         Mission Valley Regional Command – 9011 Escobar

EL PASO, TEXAS –  The El Paso Police Department will be hosting two summer youth academies this year with one being held in June and a second in July.  The goal of these academies is to introduce young men and women in our community to the El Paso Police Department in a positive and informative manner.  These academies will be held Monday through Friday from 9:00a.m. to 4:00p.m.  The first session will be held at our Pebble Hills Regional Command located at 10780 Pebble Hills on the City’s Eastside.  Those dates will be June 23-27, 2014.  The second session is scheduled to be hosted at the Mission Valley Regional Command located at 9011 Escobar in the Mission Valley Region.  This session will be held July 14-18, 2014.  There is NO CHARGE for attending these academies.  Presentations will be provided to the attendees from various units within the department to include Patrol, Traffic Investigations, General Investigations, Crimes Against Persons, SWAT, Canine and Hostage Negotiators to name a few. The courses are open to anyone between the ages of 13-18 who have not yet completed High School.  High school graduates will bereferred to the Adult Program which is anticipated to start in late August or early September.  Meals ARE NOT provided so each attendee will be required to provide a sack lunch each day.  Enrollment will begin on Wednesday, May 14, 2014 and close once all slots are filled.  Space is limited so please submit your application early as these classes typically fill up quickly.  Transportation is not available so parents/guardians MUST PROVIDE transportation to and from the training locations.  Applications may be picked up at any of the Police Regional Commands to include Police Headquarters or downloaded/printed through our Newsroom at www.eppd.org.  Completed applications must be turned in at the Regional Command or Headquarters building for processing.  Priority will be given to those individuals who have not attended previous sessions.
