Canton Police Department's Citizen's Academy
Hey Canton, Do you want to know how the Canton Police Department really works?
Become one of the 20 students participating in the city’s nine-week Citizens Police Academy.
The classes will feature K-9 training demonstrations, an introduction to firearm safety, an introduction to the court system, information on the police department’s use of force and self-defense, visits with the Internal Affairs, SWAT, and the Special Investigations Bureau.
The citizens academy training will take place at the police department’s Training Academy, 1430 Cherry Ave. SE, from 6-8:30 p.m. every Wednesday from Oct. 23 through Dec. 18.
Participants must be 21 and over and a background check will be conducted as part of the application process. Only 20 people will be selected to participate.
Applications may be picked up at the police department at 221 Third St. SW or printed from the city’s website at www.cantonohio.gov.
