Be Careful Who You Text

One of Galt PD’s finest was on duty, in uniform, on the beat.  He was doing what he does every day; looking to make a difference in the community and alert for criminal activity afoot.

At approximately 10:30 am, he was alerted by the sound of his cellular telephone.  On occasion, he gets calls from dispatch and his fellow officers about crime and neighborhood problems.  He quickly stopped what he was doing and grabbed his phone.

As it turns out, he received a text but it wasn’t from dispatch or a fellow officer.  It was from a drug dealer who wanted to sell some drugs and accidently contacted him instead of the potential buyer.

The Galt Officer, being the smart cop that he is, replied back that, “sure, I would love to buy some drugs today”.  He asked her when and where and the time was quickly set.  The Galt Officer called his brother officers at the Amador County Sheriff’s Department who were dumbfounded when they heard the news.

After they stopped laughing, undercover Deputies from the Amador County Sheriff’s Department quickly moved into place to pose as the “buyer”.  At approximately 1:45 pm the unsuspecting drug dealer arrived in the parking lot of an auto parts store on Depot Road in Jackson, Ca. ready to sell her wares.

After hurriedly getting into the undercover car to make the “deal”, and with drugs in hand, she saw several pieces of police equipment in the car.  It was then, at that moment, that she FINALLY realized she was in a “heap of trouble”.

A 22 year old Jackson resident, Heather Dawn Busbee, was arrested and booked into the Amador County Jail for drug related charges.  After the arrest, the Galt Officer chuckled and said, “Why can’t they all be that easy?”
